General Features

Under tensile load or deformation, the surface expands while at the same time the thickness of the sensor film decreases, causing an increase in capacitance that can be measured.

Applications of Dielectric Elastomer Sensors

Dielectric elastomer sensors can be used as large-area , flexible and integratable sensors with very high chemical , thermal and mechanical resistance for:

  • seat occupation surveillance
  • space-resolved pressure measuring mats
  • sensoric skin for robot control with collision avoidance
  • sombined proximity and pressure switch under soft surfaces
