Flexible and elastic dielectric silicone sensors (DES) are excellently suited for integration into textiles. By arbitrary arrangement of many tiny sensors it is possible to create indiviudal measuring areas, and this with high spatial resolution.
The special ASIC electronics can acquire data from up to 40 measuring points at a sample rate of 50 Hz. For evaluation, the data can be wireless transmitted to given receivers.
Such mats can, for example, be used to measure the weight distribution on seats or bed pads. A mobile, roll-up demonstrator scale was developed which can also work as control device via weight shift.
