Display technology

Displays are one of the most common human machine interfaces and output devices. Beyond displays for smart phones, computers and TVs, more and more types of displays are used in different applications: transparent displays (Head-Up-Displays), µ-displays for AR/VR, flexible and stretchable displays or displays for automotive, industrial or defense applications.

Displays combine electronic backplane, light emitting layers and µ-optical functions. All these features require materials and processes that are on the technological edge in order to realize high quality displays adjusted on the situation and usage:

  • Flexible, stretchable and/or printable dielectric materials for backplane, passivation and barrier materials
  • Printable (Indium-free) metal oxide semiconductors or stretchable transparent Ag-Nanowire composites
  • Touch-screen solutions for rigid / flexible displays based on piezoelectric polymers
