In addition to the development of functional materials, CeSMA focuses on material processing using modern manufacturing methods.

Technologies range from highly-individualized manufacturing methods, enabled by additive processes for e.g. optical applications (2PP and 3D printing), to continuous coating processes for the production of sensors from piezoactive polymers and dielectric elastomers using a roll-to-roll coating system.
